14 - Two Weeks and Too Weak

Get it? Homonyms, get it??!

Running Song of the Day:

If this thing doesn’t get ya to move around, at least a little bit, then frankly sir, you must be a zombie, because, uhh, well, you’re, you’re dead inside, you understand?

Also it takes 8 hours to listen to this 39 times in a row. Just a sweet little work-hack if you absolutely can’t stand your office. Just bang this thing out 39 times and then go home.

Today’s Run:

Feels like 36°. Fun stuff. Kit was woefully ill-prepared, thank BUDDHA that I wore gloves at least, fuck.

Ran the hill route. My knee feels like absolute hot garbage day in and day out now. Real pain in the…well in the knee. Knee pain. But I’m still getting out there and grinding those miles.

The hills make it feel a little easier? I was always a decent uphill runner. Downhill, I’m probably less than average, honestly. I hate that super fast leg turnover rate. Not a fan. Also on trails, my eyes suck, and I’m always worried about stepping on shit awkwardly and/or falling.

I ran a backyard race a few years ago and I honestly fell over, like completely eating shit hit the ground fall over, at least six times. It was brutal. I’m lucky my dumb head didn’t hit a rock or something.

I spent most of the run day dreaming of warmer weather and accompanying tasty foods. I love Spring but I also hate Spring. We’ve dug out of Winter, that endless, darkness-filled desperate fight against nature, and we know it’s going to get nicer out, that things will come back to life, and that eventually we’ll be rockin’ shorts and t-shirts when we go to the cool coffee places on the weekend and sit outside.

But, we have to deal with the remnants of Winter, the awkward transitional stages, and the absolute shit-fuck of constant wetness that Spring gives us.

I want it to be 75°, microwave up a bunch of lightlife smart dogs, absolutely load those fuckers to the brim with all sorts of weird toppings like wild ramp kimchi, get a really cold drink, and just enjoy my life.

Instead, I ran six miles and change, ate some chickpeas with broccoli, and am currently pretending that I don’t feel pain.

Cheers.
